This march is a tribute in the courage of the soldiers of this division which landed on the beach of Normandy in June 1944. Unprotected, they left their barges of landing to take up to the assault under the fire fed by the German artillerymen. The losses were enormous.

Those who saw this beach realize the challenge made a success by the 101th Airborne. It is a brilliant act of bravery.
